Dave Yanai Named 2021 John R. Wooden Award Legends of Coaching Recipient

Dave Yanai will receive the John R. Wooden Award®’s “Legends of Coaching™” honor in 2021. Coach Wooden’s grandson-in-law Craig Impelman was proud to announce his selection at the Los Angeles Athletic Club’s Virtual Wooden Award Tip-Off Luncheon. The virtual event featured the head coaches from the Division I men’s basketball programs in Southern California. The “Legends of Coaching” honor recognizes coaches who exemplify Coach Wooden’s high standard of coaching success and personal integrity.

John R. Wooden Award Presented By Wendy's Announces 2019-20 Men's All American Team

 LOS ANGELES, CA (April 1, 2020) – The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced the 2020 John R. Wooden Award Presented by Wendy’s All American Team during ESPN’s SportsCenter today. The Wooden Award All American Team is comprised of ten student athletes who were the top vote-getters in the quest to earn college basketball’s most prestigious honor. The ten-player team, alphabetically, consists of: Udoka Azubuike (Kansas), Devon Dotson (Kansas), Malachi Flynn (San Diego State), Luka Garza (Iowa), Markus Howard (Marquette), Filip Petrusev (Gonzaga), Myles Powell (Seton Hall), Payton Pritchard (Oregon), Obi Toppin (Dayton), and Cassisus Winston (Michigan State). The five finalists for the 2020 John R. Wooden Award Presented by Wendy’s are: Azubuike, Garza, Howard, Powell, and Toppin.

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 7, 2020) – The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced its 2020 Men’s National Ballot for the John R. Wooden Award® presented by Wendy’s® today on ESPN College GameDay. Selected by the Wooden Award National Advisory Board, the National Ballot consists of 15 student-athletes who are candidates for the Wooden Award All American Team and Wooden Award Trophy as the most outstanding college basketball player in the United States.
