There was little action among the midseason John R. Wooden Big East candidates Tuesday. However, three players led their nationally ranked teams to wins last night.
Wesley Johnson did a little bit of everything to lead #4 Syracuse to a 99-85 win over Providence. The junior forward finished with ten points, seven rebounds, four assists, five steals and three blocked shots. He was four of 14 from the field, one of five from three-point range and one of two free throws.
Greg Monroe had his ninth double-double of the year, leading #13 Georgetown to a 70-60 win over Louisville. The sophomore finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds as he made seven of 17 shots from the field and both attempts from the line. He added five assists in the win.
Darrington Hobson finished with another well-balanced game as he had 15 points, ten rebounds and five assists to lead the #12 ranked New Mexico Lobos to a 72-66 victory over Colorado State. The versatile junior made three of eleven shots from the floor and eight of twelve free throws.
