John R. Wooden Award Presented By Wendy's Announces 2022-23 Preseason Top 50 Watch List

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (November 15, 2022) – The John R. Wooden Award® presented by Wendy’s® announced its Preseason Top 50 Watch List today on ESPN’s SportsCenter and on ESPN.com. The list was also highlighted during ESPN’s coverage of the Champions Classic. Chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All American Team™ and Most Outstanding Player Award.

Dawn Staley Named 2023 John R. Wooden Award Legends of Coaching Recipient

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 4, 2022) – Dawn Staley will receive the John R. Wooden Award “Legends of Coaching” honor in 2023. Coach Wooden’s grandson-in-law Craig Impelman and 2021 recipient Dave Yanai were proud to announce her selection at the Los Angeles Athletic Club’s annual Wooden Award Tip-Off Luncheon. The event featured the head coaches from the Division I men’s basketball programs in Southern California. The “Legends of Coaching” honor recognizes coaches who exemplify Coach Wooden’s high standard of coaching success and personal integrity.

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 30, 2022) – The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced the 2022 John R. Wooden Award® Presented by Wendy’s® All American Team™ on ESPNU today. The Wooden Award All American Team is comprised of ten student-athletes who were the top vote-getters in the quest to earn college basketball’s most prestigious honor. The ten-player team, alphabetically, consists of: Ochai Agbaji (Kansas), Kofi Cockburn (Illinois), Johnny Davis (Wisconsin), Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga), Jaden Ivey (Purdue), Bennedict Mathurin (Arizona), Keegan Murray (Iowa), Jabari Smith (Auburn), Drew Timme (Gonzaga), and Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky). The five finalists for the 2022 John R. Wooden Award Presented by Wendy’s Men’s Player of the Year are: Ochai Agbaji, Johnny Davis, Keegan Murray, Drew Timme, and Oscar Tshiebwe.  All five players have been invited to Los Angeles for the 46th annual presentation of the John R. Wooden Award Presented by Wendy’s Gala.
