LOS ANGELES, CA (February 17, 2016) – The John R. Wooden Award® announced a Women’s Late Season Top 20 list of outstanding student-athletes who are the frontrunners for college basketball’s most prestigious individual honor at roughly two-thirds of the way through the 2015-16 season. The list is chosen by a poll of national women’s college basketball media members and was announced on ESPNW.

LOS ANGELES (October 13, 2015) – Tubby Smith, Texas Tech University Men’s Basketball Coach, will receive the John R. Wooden Award’s “Legends of Coaching” honor in 2016. Coach Wooden’s daughter, Nan Wooden, was proud to announce his selection at the Los Angeles Athletic Club’s annual Wooden Award Tipoff Luncheon. The award recognizes coaches who exemplify Coach Wooden’s high standards of coaching success and personal integrity.

2015 Wooden Award Winner: Kaminsky of Wisconsin

The 2015 John R. Wooden Award Presented by Wendy’s was handed out this evening before a live audience at Club Nokia to Wisconsin senior center Frank Kaminsky as the high point of the inaugural ESPN College Basketball Awards Presented by Wendy’s. Kaminsky received the the Wooden Award Trophy whose unique design was inspired by Coach Wooden’s idea of the “total basketball player.” Coach Wooden’s grandson, Greg Wooden,  and Wendy’s Chief Marketing Officer Brandon Solano made the announcement.

Women's 2015 John R. Wooden Award Winner Released: Connecticut's Stewart Wins

The John R. Wooden Award®, the preeminent collegiate basketball player of the year award, was presented this evening at Club Nokia by Los Angeles Athletic Club President Steve Hathaway and longtime Wooden family friend and Basketball Hall of Famer Ann Meyers Drysdale to University of Connecticut junior Breanna Stewart. The announcement was made live on ESPN2 as part of the inaugural ESPN College Basketball Awards. Meyers Drysdale and Hathaway presented Stewart with the Wooden Award Trophy whose unique design was inspired by Coach Wooden’s ideal of the “total basketball player.”

John R. Wooden Award® Presented by Wendy's ® All-American Team Announced Today

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 30, 2015) -- The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced the 2015 John R. Wooden Award All Americans on a 30-minute show on ESPNU today (8pm EDT). Selected by nearly 1,000 national college basketball media members and the Award’s former winners, the All American team is made up of 10 student-athletes who were the top vote-getters in the quest to earn college basketball’s most prestigious honor. The ten-player team consists of, alphabetically, Ron Baker (Wichita State); Malcolm Brogdon (Virginia); Willie Cauley-Stein (Kentucky); Jerian Grant (Notre Dame); Frank Kaminsky (Wisconsin); Jahlil Okafor (Duke); D’Angelo Russell (Ohio State); Seth Tuttle (Northern Iowa); Kyle Wiltjer (Gonzaga); and Delon Wright (Utah). The five players who are invited to Los Angeles are Cauley-Stein, Grant, Kaminsky, Okafor and Russell.
