Lon Kruger of Oklahoma Named 2019 John R. Wooden Award Legends of Coaching Recipient

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 9, 2018) – Lon Kruger, University of Oklahoma Men’s Basketball Coach, will receive the John R. Wooden Award®’s “Legends of Coaching™” honor in 2019. Coach Wooden’s grandson-in-law Craig Impleman was proud to announce his selection at the Los Angeles Athletic Club’s annual Wooden Award Tip-Off Luncheon. The luncheon features the head coaches from the Division I men’s basketball programs in Southern California. The “Legends of Coaching” honor recognizes coaches who exemplify Coach Wooden’s high standard of coaching success and personal integrity.

Winners of John R. Wooden Award Named at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Presented by Wendy’s

College basketball’s top coaches and players past and present spent one last night honoring the season that was, tonight. The College Basketball Awards Presented by Wendy’s televised live on ESPN2 from The Novo by Microsoft at L.A. Live saw eight prestigious, end-of-season awards presented to basketball’s very best during the 90-minute telecast.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 28, 2018) – The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced the 2018 John R. Wooden Award® Presented By Wendy’s® All American Team during a 30-minute show on ESPNU today (8 pm ET). The Wooden Award All American Team™ is made up of ten student athletes who were the top vote-getters in the quest to earn college basketball’s most prestigious honor. The ten-player team, alphabetically, consists of: Deandre Ayton (Arizona), Marvin Bagley III (Duke), Keita Bates-Diop (Ohio State), Trevon Bluiett (Xavier), Mikal Bridges (Villanova), Miles Bridges (Michigan State), Jalen Brunson (Villanova), Jevon Carter (West Virginia), Devonte’ Graham (Kansas), and Trae Young (Oklahoma). The five players who are invited to Los Angeles for the Wooden Award™ presentation during the ESPN College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy’s are: Ayton, Bagley III, Brunson, Graham, and Young.

John R. Wooden Award Names 2018 High School Players of the Year

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 28, 2018) –The Los Angeles Athletic Club today announced the twelve outstanding Southern California high school boys’ and girls’ basketball players who will be awarded the 2018 John R. Wooden High School Player of the Year Award presented by Wells Fargo®.  The boys’ winners are: CIF Los Angeles City Section, Kaelen Allen, Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets (Los Angeles); CIF Southern Section Division I, Onyeka Okongwu, Chino Hills High School (Chino Hills); CIF Southern Section Division II, Shareef O’Neal, Crossroads School (Santa Monica); CIF Southern Section Division III, Anthony Holland, Notre Dame High School (Riverside); CIF Southern Section Division IV, Chris Koon, Rolling Hills Preparatory High School (Torrance); CIF Southern Section Division V, Jordan Starr, Santa Clarita Christian School (Canyon Country).
